Today I have learned that every school bus and driver in the state has been put on a roster for rotation to drive the refugees from the Superdome to wherever they may end up.

Here in Shreveport gas stations are already running out of gas.

There is low water pressure from the overload on the water supply and sewage pumps.

The grocery stores can’t even keep up with the demands.

I live in a nice neighborhood and right down the road from me is the university LSUS.

LSUS has been set up as a shelter and more people just keep showing up.

These people are desperate, and desperation causes people to do things that they would not normally do. Crime here has increased more than you can imagine.

I was volunteering at the shelter, but now I’m concerned for my safety to walk from the parking lot to the shelter.

I don’t think that I have ever begged for money or donations from anyone, but at this moment, I am humbled.

If you can, please help, in any way. Everything is appreciated.

Half a million people are now homeless.

I sympathize with your plight and those living on the Gulf Coast. However I wish Bush could be humbled and accept help that is being offered.
From what I am reading, he wants the US to do it all on its own. He says he'd love the help but we don't need it. I have never resorted to calling any previous president a jerk, but that is exactly what it is. What would be so bad about accepting help? We are always helping others in the world and they wish to give back some and help us and we are refusing it?
He doesn't understand anything. He forces us to stay in a war we don't belong, he goes on vacation far more than any previous president and he is refusing aid. The almighty US is too proud to accept help. Instead let the population suffer as we slowing provide our own help. I was surprised as well that he didn't cut his vacation shorter. It took him two days to cut his vacation short! A national crisis and he couldn't stand up to the plate and stand by Americans. I'm glad I never voted for him and I still don't understand how come so many Americans were blind to his stupidity.

Anyway I wish I could offer help however my finances are in critical shape as it is so I am only able to offer prayers and support. In my view this disaster is worse than Hurricane Andrew as it covers a much wider scale and has the flooding as well. This area needs help and I encourage anyhow can to do so.

Thanks for you prayers, I understand about finances. I'm in the same boat.
